Both my husband, Dan, and I were married previously and both were divorced by the age of 25. No kids from previous marriages. When we started dating, we discussed that we did not want to get married and if we did, it would not be for a very long time. We also agreed that we would probably have kids before we decided to get married or not.
Dan and I the summer before I found out I was pregnant with Baby #2
Well, things change over time as we all know. Dan and I were at our year and a half mark when I found out I was pregnant with our handsome Bubba! No big deal to us! We discussed this would probably happen. And as you can imagine, EVERYONE asked if we were going to get married now that I was pregnant. The answer was no.
Every year in the first week of May, we would go for our first camping trip of the year. Of course, I was 7 months pregnant! And it was so cold that there were icicles inside of our tent. While sitting as close to the fire as I could get, Dan looked at me and told me how beautiful I was and how much he loved me. Then he got between me and the fire, down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
Brave man considering how cold I was! I cried and nod my head yes. He then asked, "Is that a yes?" and I said "yes". "Good! I gotta get up! I think my butt is on fire! I didn't realize how close to the fire you were!"
Dan said he had been planning this for MONTHS, before we found out I was pregnant. Sneaky man! I knew I would marry this man because he picked the perfect place and the perfect ring and the perfect way to ask. The weather missed the memo, but that is not his fault.
We talked about going to the county clerk and marrying ourselves after Bubba was born and then having a ceremony a year or two later. So that is what we did, for legal reasons. We did not want something to happen to one of us and then the other would not be taken care of or someone try and take our son away.

My best friend over at Crunchy Green Mom, is getting married in 4 weeks and 4 days! She started Tie The Knot Tuesdays with ideas that she came up with or found for her wedding. I loved the idea so much that I am borrowing the idea. With her permission of course!
I was looking up quotes to write on little pieces of paper that will become beautiful origami flowers for her wedding. I wanted to share a few that I found!
You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.
-William W. Purkey
You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.
It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.
- Friedrich Nietzsche
There is never a time or place for true love. It happens accidentally, in a heartbeat, in a single flashing, throbbing moment.
- Sarah Dessen
Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply give you courage.
- Lao Tzu
We're all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness-and call it love-true love.
There is only one happiness in life-- to love and to be loved.
- George Sand
Love is not just looking at each other, it's looking in the same direction.
- Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Love: A temporary insanity curable by marriage.
